Weirdness

What’s that up in the sky? It’s a bird. It’s a plane. No. It’s a… UFO?

Let me start this off by saying I’m totally not a weird psycho ufo-watcher.  And I’m not crazy.  I might be toeing the line of alcoholism (joking!), but I’m most certainly not crazy.  But before I get into all of this, it might be worth playing the video below as you read the rest of this post.

Growing up, I looked at the skies a lot.  I’ve seen stars, planets, meteor showers and Hale-Bopp… but I’ve never seen anything I couldn’t explain.  My granddad always used to point out planes in the night sky and tease me that it was “a u and an f and an o.”  (He still does this) Granddad also used to listen to Art Bell on Coast to Coast AM which I always thought was way cool, even if I didn’t understand a lot of what they talked about.  Granddad had me obsessed about Planet X for at least a year or two.

So anyway, as I got older, I started listening to different radio shows and podcasts and such; stuff like Hometown Tales, Paranormal Podcast and now Tower of Technobabble.  And while I totally still believe in ghosts, ufos, aliens and so on, I’ve never seen any proof that they do exist.

And then on Sunday morning I was sitting out on the balcony–sun in my face and coffee at my side.  I just happened to look up at a plane zooming by which is perfectly normal and then I saw something else.  Something flying along, twisting and turning as it went.  I couldn’t tell what it was or what it was made of, just that it kept changing shape.  One minute it looked like an S and the next it was just a dot.  Finally I called into N to grab my camera which isn’t the best but has a pretty decent zoom.  I took about ten pictures before the thing floated on out of our sight and only managed to capture it in one photo:

See the black thing? That's it!
One close up....
And an even closer close up

So?  What is it?  N swears up and down it was a deflated helium balloon but I don’t think so.  It had a metallicness to it that the sun reflected off of… and if it were a delated balloon you’d expect it to eventually sink but from the way it looked it never lost any altitude–it just headed on into the city and eventually disappeared into the distance.

I’ve checked the UK UFO site where people register UFO sightings all over the UK and while it’s a damn cool, interesting website, there was nothing there like what I saw.

So tell me… what do you guys think?  Have any of you ever seen anything up in the sky that you couldn’t explain?

  1. Holy crap! I say report it to that UK UFO group you mentioned. Hopefully they could look at the photo and tell you if they’ve had similar reports, or tell you if they seen “balloons” take on similar shapes before.
Also, you could try to send an email to an official meteorological service … not sure what it would be in the UK, I’m thinking something like the US’s “National Weather Service” and see what they think.

But definitely send the photos somewhere! But not the Daily Mail!

Also, can i put them up on the tower site?!? 😉

    1. I know! I’m going to try and get them up on the UK UFO site at the very least sometime today…

And yes, you can put them on the Tower site. 🙂

Leave some love!
