I am DONE with my NaNoWriMo novel. I hit 50k this evening, the ultimate goal and, while my story is nowhere near finished plot-wise, I’ve hit the 50k and I’m going to stop for a while. I need to take a break from intense writing, at least for a while. I may pick back up with Riverbend, I may not. I honestly hadn’t even thought about how I was going to end the story so in a way I’m glad I only got halfway in the storyline, that way I didn’t have to make any crucial decisions like last year, when I gave my main character a bout of amnesia. Nice. No no, none of those theatrics this time. Oddly enough, in writing Riverbend, I came up with so many other ideas for short stories that I may just work on those in the coming months… I want to take it slower, develop them, make them something readable, you know?
So it’s back to life, back to regular blog posts again. I owe you an October and November book wrap up which I’ll get done this weekend. I’ve also been given the opportunity by Penguin to review an advance copy of Lucy Robinson’s second book (if you haven’t read her first, you simply must. Hilarity, I tell you.) So that’ll be coming in the next week or so. I’m also going to be resurrecting an old blog favourite next week… but I’m not going to tell you which… you’ll just have to stick around and see!
Holy shiitake mushrooms… it just dawned on me that I’ve written two novels. Nevermind that one is total crap, one is partially unfinished and both are unpublished. Doesn’t matter. I’ve written TWO novels. Put that in your… er… pipe and smoke it? Or… as we used to say in high school (mental cringe) take that to the bank and cash it. Ughhhhh….
