Chocolate bath scrub…. yum!

So yesterday I was feeling a bit down in the dumps and needed a pick me up.  I’d been daydreaming about spa treatments all day so I thought a little pampering was in order… except I’m broker than broke right now.  So I got online and started looking up easy homemade bath scrubs.  They all seemed so nice and easy I thought I’d have a go creating my own!

Yummy Choco-holic Scrub

  • 4 tablespoons of white sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder (I used Hershey’s because there’s nothing better than the real stuff!)
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon organic honey

Combine the sugar and cocoa powder and add the olive oil and honey.  Mix until the contents become like a paste.  I added a dash of extra olive oil but that’s just personal preference.  This makes enough for two treatments but my skin was so scaly and dry that I used the whole batch.  If you do want to store some of it for future use, I would put it in an airtight container and keep it in the fridge for no longer than two weeks.  The oil may separate so you’ll need to give it a good mix before using it again.

Honey and olive oil are great for the skin both as a moisturiser and antioxidant which you’ll definitely need after the exfoliation from the sugar.  Not sure what the chocolate’s in there for but I saw it in quite a few different recipes so I thought it wouldn’t hurt.  It’s a pretty intense scrub so I wouldn’t recommend it for your face.  My skin was so smooth and soft after I got out of the shower, even N noticed!

Two things to note–the scrub’s a bit messy so you might need to clean your tub down after using.  Also, because of the olive oil, it can make the tub a bit slippery so take care!

Sadly, I didn’t get the chance to take any photos because I was too eager to hop in the shower and scrub up!

What homemade treatments do you guys use?  I love DIY scrubs and masks!

PS:  I just realised this is my 400th post!  Holy goodness!  5 second dance break…

As you were.

  1. Okay, a story of something I would NOT recommend. I’d heard that egg yolk is good for hair so I whisked up enough for my waist length hair and let it set. The instructions didn’t specify washing it out in cold water. Rinsing scrambled egg out of my hair didn’t leave it as soft and nourished as I’d hope for how labour intensive the whole ideal was.

Leave some love!
