November Birchbox

I’m still on hiatus from blogging but I just wanted to pop in and review a brilliant subscription service I’ve signed up to called Birchbox.  US friends, there’s one on your side of the pond too!  A bit about Birchbox from their website:

Co-founders Hayley Barna and Katia Beauchamp met at Harvard Business School. They created Birchbox to help consumers cut through the clutter of the retail world to find products that really work for them.

Based in New York City, Birchbox launched in September 2010 and acquired JolieBox in September 2012. To date, Birchbox has shipped over 5,000,000 Birchboxes globally and currently has a global subscriber base of over 400,000 people. Birchbox has been featured by Time, Bloomberg Businessweek, InStyle and Marie Claire, among others

Birchbox helps you find products that you’ll love.

Sign up to receive a monthly delivery of high-end beauty and lifestyle samples that have been customised for you.

I’m not much for beauty products, even less so for luxury brands, but I thought it sounded nice as one of my goals for next year is to take more stock in my appearance and make more of an effort.  My makeup is usually of the cheaper variety but to be honest if I found something expensive but super fantastic and effective, I would probably splash out.

Here’s a blow by blow review of the fantastic products I recieved in my first ever Birchbox for November:

English Laundry Signature For Her EDP Spray For Women – As soon as I opened my Birchbox package, this was the first thing I tried out.  I love the smell… it’s very clean and sophisticated with a hint of sexy.  5/5

Weleda Oat Replenishing Shampoo – Out of all of the products, this was actually my least favourite.  It took a lot to get the shampoo to actually lather and I didn’t care for the scent either. 1/5

Chella Ivory Lace Highlighter Pencil – To be honest, I wasn’t entirely sure what to do with this when I first got it.  Thankfully, Birchbox thinks about makeup-novices like me and had a handy blog post ready to go with ten different ways to use the pencil.  I’ve used it a couple of different ways now but actually my favourite use for the pencil is as a base for my eyeshadow.  It kept the shadow in place on my lids for much longer than without which I was greatly pleased about! 3/5

Pukka Herbs Teas: Gorgeous Earl Grey, Three Cinnamon, Elderberry & Echinacea – I’m already a devout lover of Pukka teas, my favourite being ‘Love’ which has loads of yummy lavender and such.  Out of these three, I absolutely loved ‘Three Cinnamon’ and will be nipping out to purchase a box soon.  5/5

Laura Mercier Body Butter – Oh man, this stuff is lush.  I put some on all over after my bath and it lasted until the next bath the following evening.  Sadly, a bottle of this product will set you back a bit which is a shame, but I can definitely see it being a “treat” item for me in the future. 4/5

ModelCo® Party Proof Lipstick (in ‘Kitty’) – Brilliant lipstick.  Normally I slap on a bit of tinted lip balm and call it a day but this stuff kept my lips moisturised and the colour was absolutely perfect for my skin tone.  Definitely a hit! 4/5

  1. I used to get Birchbox but I’ve fallen in love with Ipsy, same concept but bigger samples and a unique to the month makeup bag all for the cost of birchbox.

Leave some love!
